Core Duties & Responsibility

Diagnostics: Run diagnostics tests and analyze results to identify mechanical and electrical faults in engines, hydraulics and transmissions.

Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance to prevent equipment breakdowns.

Repairs: Disassemble, repair, or replace major components such as steering mechanisms, braking systems and faulty engines using precision tools.

Compliance: Ensure all vehicles comply with safety, environmental and transportation regulations.

Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, completed services, and parts inventories.

Emergency Response: Attend to on-road or site breakdowns quickly and safely.
Requirements & Qualifications
-
Certification: Qualified Trade Test Certificate as a Diesel Mechanic (e.g., merSETA, Olifantsfontein, or QCTO in South Africa).

Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years of proven experience servicing light motor vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, trailers, or earthmoving equipment.

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical schematics.

Physical & Work Attributes: Physical stamina to handle heavy tools, willingness to work shifts/overtime, and the ability to work well under pressure during breakdowns.
